History and Mystery: The Sheriff’s Home and Old Hancock County Jail

The third video in our historical series was created before the formation of The Old Jail Preservation Committee, which has raised over $300,000 for the restoration of the jail in less than a year. Previously, there was inadequate capacity in the EHS for undertaking such a project and, therefore, little hope for the future. Fortunately, as word spread in 2021, members of the community became concerned and took action to incredible avail. To learn why we love our Jail so much, click here and find more about its history here.

History and Mystery: The Lost Photographs of William Henry Titus

The fourth episode in our series concerns unseen photographs of Ellsworth Maine taken at the end of the 19th century and the early years of the 20th.
